GOOGLE is bringing out two expensive smartphones that it hopes will convert even the most devoted of Apple fans to its Android operating system.

The Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL come with a slew of fantastic features, elegant design and high craftsmanship.

But starting at £629 and £799 respectively, they’re priced at the top of the market.

Of course, if you choose a two-year contract, you’ll be spreading the cost anyway.

But The Sun Online has given them a once over to advise you on whether it’s worth splashing out.

Hardcore Android fans are in for a treat as Google makes the operating system that runs most phones on the planet and promises the best Android Oreo experience ever on these new gizmos - including automatic updates to the latest features and security measures.

It has a special Google Assistant button so you can command your phone to do things with ease.

Pixel 2 XL

The Pixel 2 XL is a great buy for budding photographers.

It has a beautiful 6” screen with a 12MP camera along with optical stabilisation for crystal clear snaps.

Independent camera reviewers DxOMark Mobile gave the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL cameras the highest ever score of 98.

There’s free, unlimited cloud storage for all your photos and videos so you will never have to delete a picture again.

You can organise your pics with ease in the Google Photos library using tags.

Simply search for a tagged location to find a picture rather than scrolling through.

There’s the novelty Google Lens feature too, which uses object recognition to tell you about landmarks or buildings you have taken pictures of, if you have your Wifi or data switched on.

It lets you save phone numbers and email addresses by taking pictures of text, too.

The Pixel 2 XL is a good choice for someone who will be using their phone for streaming films and playing games.

Google knows people will want to watch clips with their friends and family or enjoy catching up on Netflix on the commute.

It has added in dual front-facing stereo speakers to give you great sound at loud levels.

There’s integration with other Google products too.

You can control Google’s smart speakers, the Home or Home Mini, using the phones.

Lightweight and easy to operate, the Pixel 2XL will be a hit with those who want a phone that can take beautiful pictures, give you extra screen for viewing films and games and a great battery life.

It comes in Black & White and Just Black costing £799 (64GB) and £899 (128GB) and will be available on 15 November.

Google’s smaller, cheaper version comes with the same bells and whistles but a 5” screen and comes in Clearly White, Kinda Blue and Just Black.It costs £629 (64 GB) and £729 (128 GB) and will be available from 19 October.

Converted? Google have made it very easy to switch phones. You can transfer everything from your old gadget in 10 minutes with a special cable.

There’s also Pixel Care, who are there to help out with any technical issues you might have.
